Most Wanted

I've heard from many family members that John OFFS last name was not really OFFS. The way the story goes... everyone butchered the spelling and pronunciation so badly, that he changed his name to something simpler as a young adult.

To add to the mystery... I have draft board information claiming John was born in Ohio. But his eldest daughter, my aunt Verna stated that he was not native born, but immigrated with his parents as a small child, and was from somewhere near Vienna, Austria and of Slovak descent.
